The Tale of Triona

The Tale of Triona is a romance novel of Olivia Gale, an orphan girl who marries a handsome and brilliant writer and is deliriously happy until an old secret comes to light.

Olivia is a newly orphaned young woman looking for adventure and excitement. She rents out her house to Blaise Olifant whose friend Alexis Triona soon moves in to stay with him. Olivia moves to London and enjoys life in London society before she meets Triona again. Triona writes a book about his rather mysterious past experiences which is an instant bestseller. The book follows their relationship and the strange and totally unexpected path it takes.

The Tale of Triona was the basis for the 1924 Harold M. Shaw film A Fool's Awakening with Mary Alden, Lionel Belmore, and Enid Bennett.

William John Locke (1863-1930) was a British best-selling author of novels and short stories in Britain and America and a successful playwright. Five times Locke's books made the list of best-selling novels in the United States for the year. His works have been made into 24 motion pictures. The Tale of Triona was first published in 1922.  Audiobook read by Simon Evers, running time 10 hours, 35 min. Unabridged full version.
